This may be the first time that you have ever considered combining travel and volunteer service. We recognise that one of the greatest barriers to getting involved is knowing where to begin!

African Exposure has deviated from the more traditional long-term approach of individual volunteer placements and has refined its itineraries for group travel that fits into a week - specifically to meet the needs of busy people, who have big hearts but significant time constraints. Many of our volunteers are in full-time employment and simply do not have the time to convert goodwill into actual practical 'doing'. Our intensive short-term programmes make it easy to fit a strong desire for a more hands-on vacation into demanding schedules without compromising on the experience.

Whilst our programmes guarantee genuine involvement and total immersion into the local environment and culture, we have geared them to ensure that you don’t have to sacrifice the basic levels of comfort and security that you would have expected on a more traditional vacation. In a nutshell, meeting your needs away from home and using the time you have in a more organised fashion gives you the freedom to totally immerse yourself into the local environment and culture in a way that is significantly meaningful and fun. We encourage group travel due to the short-term nature of our itineraries, for the purposes of economy and for the achievement of the week’s ultimate goal. No previous skill is necessary so whether it’s building a house or a school, planting a community vegetable garden or painting an orphanage all we need is you, a couple of friends or work colleagues and a strong desire to do something different!
